Abstract

The objective of this paper is to verify the concentration of sugarcane agro-industry in Minas Gerais State from 1996/1997 to 2005/2006 harvests. The results (CR4 and CR8, Hirschmann-Herfindahl index, Rosenbluth, and entropy index) have demonstrated na increase of concentration related to sugarcane production. This increase of concentration – occurred mainly due to the growth of the biggest companies – can be explained from the restructuring of the industry based on increasing competitiveness.
