ENVIRONMENT IMPACT AND ADMINISTRATION OF TOXICOLOGICAL PROBLEMS IN THE AGROTOXICS USE

Abstract

The objective of this work is to study the problems cused by the use of agrotoxics in the Agricultural Region of Viçosa (RAV), Minas Gerais, in conection to utilization of agrotoxics, to work conditions, envrironment riks and to intoxication degree of the tomato producers in this region. The majority of RAV tomato producers did not have technical assistence and/or guidance from agricultural professionals and does not use the correct agricultural recomendation for chemicals; does not observe the recomended privation period for agrotoxics , which indicates that the produced and consumed tomatoes aree contaminated on a high degree which is above the legal levels; the majority does not use any individual protection when using the agrotoxics once most the used insect killer is Metamidofós. The high intoxication level of RAV toma to producers is due to the incorrect use of the applied technology and the lack of explanation of the heatlth and environment risks.
