Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to empirically show the importance of the social and joint responsibility certification to enhance the economic opportunities of family agriculture. Parallelly, it was tried to identify the most important obstacles in the area, from the different points of view, (political, social security and sanitary), in the region under study (Missões Gaúchas). This work provides a useful tool to the formulation of public policies in this area, approaching to the opinion of interviewed farmers in relation to their interest of taking part of that process and their expectations regarding to the future.
