Abstract

This research sought to analyse the function of gender, personal values, the perception of rural producers, and the belief of parents as forerunners of the intentions of career determinations of family and non-family rural producers, with a
remembrance of a family enterprise. The research had been carried out with 202 rural producers with a valid and accurate
family activity historial report. To appraisal the results, multinomial stepwise logistic regression was used. The results
have shown that the personal values of exposure to change, and self-promotion are entirely associated with determining
to create a new business, whilst the personal value of self-transcendence is positively associated with working outside the
family business. As a replacement, the personal value of conservativeness has been shown to raise the probability of rural producers selecting to succeed instead of starting a business. Furthermore, the identification with the company and the parents’ work prerequisites showed to increase the probability of choosing series or rather starting a business. Besides, the results revealed that two of the parents’ preferences and the preparation made by the influence the choice for succession instead of undertaking. Thus, it is rooted that personal values are partnered with the choice to initiate a new enterprise, flourish and work exceeding the family business. The perceptions of rural producers are mainly associated with the choice for the succession, and the parent’s view is the undertaking itself.
