Evaluation of the implementation of the PIBO - A program of sheep bank on south of Bahia

Abstract

The objective of this work is to evaluate the implementation of the PIBO - Program of Implementation of Sheep Bank in the cocoa region of South of Bahia. In order to emphasize the generation of food, diversification of crops, the Atlantic Rain Forest conservation and the quality of Family Farming, the, PIBO, aims to support rural families in sheep production. From the initial promotion of four sheep to seventy-five rural families previously selected, the program offers advice, training and monitoring of animal production. The partial results indicate that the careful selection of indicated rural families allied to regular technical assistance to provide technical feasibility in production. However, the little knowledge about sheep production in the cocoa region stands out as a negative factor to the progress of this program.
