The objective was to analyze the evolution of Brazilian exports of dairy products in recent years, specifically from 2004 to 2010, period in which the country presented a few trade surplus moments. Specifically, we evaluated: Brazilian exportable products, in volume and value, the destination countries of exports and the trade balance. The research was based on a qualitative approach - literature research as a means of obtaining more information on the dynamics of the sector and the performance of dairy processing companies in the development of exports – as well as quantitative. The quantitative approach involved a data analysis of seven years, period from January 2004 to December 2010, with a survey and data collection in the Alice Web System (MDIC), USDA and IBGE. The scientific contributions of this article are related to understanding external competitiveness of the dairy sector and strategic action, whether of a public or private character. In terms of results, we found that: Brazilian export of dairy products concentrated in two products (powder milk and condensed milk); concentration also occurred in the purchasing countries, such African and South American countries; export performance of the period was heavily influenced by international price factor. .Downloads
