Abstract

Knowledge can be considered the organizational asset most likely to generate lasting success, making it  important to be part of the managerial practices of the farm manager. The lack of preparation of a successor to assume the family business can produce impacts such as: uncertainties, family tension, ownership stagnation, and potential loss of accumulated knowledge. The study aims to understand how the relationship between farm succession and knowledge takes place. The research strategy is a qualitative approach based on literature (technical and non-technical) codings, using the initial
techniques of the Grounded Theory method, specifically the approach of Strauss and Corbin (2008). The  conceptual framework is presented with the inference of three categories (influence of others, competence, and qualification), along with their respective  properties. The research can direct future investigations that deal with farm succession and knowledge, generate important information and insights on the subject, and contribute to the dissemination of the method’s techniques.

Erlaine Binotto, Universidade Federal da Grande Dourados

Graduated in Business Administration from the Federal University of Santa Maria, Specialization in Theoretical Methodological Foundations of Teaching from the University of Cruz Alta, master's and doctorate in Agribusiness from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul and doctorate sandwich The University of Queensland. Leader of the research group (CNPq): Organizations, People and Environment. Member Center for Research, Development and Innovation in Tourism (CiTUR) - Polytechnic Pole of Leiria - Portugal. She evaluates articles in national and international journals and events. Coordinates projects approved by CNPq "Collective actions, innovation and succession in rural properties in Brazil and Thailand" and by Fundect "Profile of the rural family successor in the context of sustainable agriculture in Mato Grosso do Sul: an analysis in the light of Grounded Theory"; "Elements of the construction process of the profiles of women who work in agribusiness management in Mato Grosso do Sul" and "Indigenous food security: can organizing a cooperative alleviate poverty?". She is currently Associate Professor IV at the Federal University of Grande Dourados-UFGD, coordinated the Graduate Program in Agribusiness (12 / 2010-01 / 2015) and vice-coordinator of PROFIAP (2014-2019). Professor at PPGAgronegócios/UFGD and PhD in Business Administration/UFMS. She was vice-president of SOBER in the 2015-2017 term; 2017-2019 and 2019-2021. He has experience in the area of Administration and Agribusiness, with qualitative approaches with an emphasis on the human aspect, working mainly on the following topics: Professional Profile for Agribusiness, Rural Tourism and Rural Succession (knowledge management, collective actions, learning, absorptive capacity, communities of practice), with some research adopting Grounded Theory.
