Abstract

This article has as objective to analyze the social, economic and environmental implications derived from the creation of the Bodoquena Mountain Range National Park for the settler’s community of the Canaã Settlement, empirically verifying the action of a federal conservation unit such as a National Park in the dynamics of a settlement. Methodologically, this study was based on the three dimensions of the Sustainable Development proposed by World Commission on Environmental Development - WCED: Society, Economy and Environment, fragmented in factors or criteria of sustainability. It can be identified on the development of the analysis, elements that points out implications occurrences in the analyzed dimensions, reflecting the necessity of implementing environmental educational programs and incorporation of new compatible technologies of production, according to the objectives of preservation of the Bodoquena Mountain Range National Park.
